Happy National Travel and Tourism Week! Since its establishment in 1983, National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) celebrates the travel industry during the first full week of May. This year’s theme is “Travel Matters”. For Team TINT: we live for travel, tourism, and hospitality. We’re proud supporters of our friends and colleagues throughout the travel community.
To celebrate, we’ve created three TINTs to explore National Travel and Tourism Week, San Antonio tourism, and downtown San Antonio. Check back on this page throughout the week for new content.
Nationwide Impact
The U.S. Travel Association shares the impact in this year’s program materials. Travel and tourism generated $2.5 trillion for the U.S. economy while generating $171 billion in tax revenue across all levels of government. Travel supported 15.7 million jobs, making one out of every ten Americans employed by the tourism industry.
Local Impact
A 2018 report by the San Antonio Tourism Council echoes the economic impact of San Antonio’s hospitality industry. The report, researched by Trinity University, estimates the overall economic impact of local tourism to be over $15 billion. In 2017, more than 31 million tourists visited Bexar County with more than 23 million of them spending the night in the San Antonio Metro Area. In San Antonio, one out of every 7 workers is part of the tourism industry.
The breadth of San Antonio travel and tourism is echoed in city-wide social media. Locals and tourists alike share content on the #satx hashtag with over 1.5 million uses on Instagram and many more on Twitter.
TINT is a proud resident of downtown San Antonio. Our headquarters is less than a block away from the historic River Walk. We want to thank the local- and national- travel and tourism industry for the amazing work they do throughout the year.
We’ve worked with brands like Loews Hotels, Travelocity, and LA Fashion Week to use the power of social to increase bookings, drive digital engagement, and create an endless stream of content for marketers, communicators, and operators. Consumers are more influenced by authentic content from other consumers than branded content. Learn more about how TINT can help you increase engagement, build loyalty, and leverage the power of customer generated content.
